Firehouse Subs plans to reenter the Philadelphia market after exiting three years ago. The sandwich chain says it intends to reinvest heavily in the region.
Company leaders see potential for 50 to 80 new locations across Greater Philadelphia over the next five to 10 years. The first 10 stores could open within three years, depending on franchise development.
Senior Director of Franchising Kelly Crummer said Philadelphia represents one of the brand’s strongest growth opportunities. The company is actively seeking franchise partners to support the rollout.
Firehouse Subs specializes in hot sandwiches featuring steamed meats and cheeses on toasted sub rolls. The brand was founded in 1994 in Jacksonville, Florida.
In 2021, Restaurant Brands International acquired Firehouse Subs for $1 billion. RBI also owns Burger King, Popeyes, and Tim Hortons.
Firehouse Subs previously operated in the Philadelphia region beginning in 2011. The chain exited the market in early 2023 during a broader system transition following the acquisition.
The renewed push signals confidence in the Philadelphia retail and quick-service restaurant market. National brands continue to target dense, high-traffic trade areas for expansion.
