Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace is entering the Greater Philadelphia market with two new grocery stores planned for late 2027.
The upscale Italian grocery chain will open locations in King of Prussia and Moorestown, New Jersey.
Together, the new stores are expected to create at least 500 jobs across the Philadelphia region.
In King of Prussia, Uncle Giuseppe’s will occupy 57,820 square feet at 320 West DeKalb Pike.
The store will open within DeKalb Plaza, replacing the former Hobby Lobby location. Hobby Lobby closed its store at the shopping center in August.
Meanwhile, Uncle Giuseppe’s will open a 58,121-square-foot location at 1311 Nixon Drive in Moorestown.
The two stores will establish the New York-based grocer’s first presence within the Philadelphia market.
Uncle Giuseppe’s combines traditional grocery offerings with prepared foods and Italian specialties. Its concept also emphasizes fresh foods and an experience-driven shopping environment.
The expansion comes as specialty grocers continue targeting Greater Philadelphia for growth. Furthermore, residential density and strong consumer demographics are increasing competition for desirable retail locations.
DeKalb Plaza is also attracting additional restaurant investment. Raising Cane’s plans to open a new location within the King of Prussia shopping center.
For retail landlords, grocery anchors can generate consistent traffic while supporting surrounding restaurants, shops, and service businesses.
The two openings will introduce another grocery competitor to both Pennsylvania and South Jersey. Additionally, the expansion reflects continued confidence in the Philadelphia region’s retail market.
