Miller’s Ale House Closes Springfield Restaurant

Miller's Ale House closes its Springfield restaurant

Miller’s Ale House has closed another Philadelphia-area restaurant. As a result, the casual dining chain has reduced its regional footprint for the second time this year.

The latest closure involves the restaurant at 18 Baltimore Pike in Springfield, Delaware County. The location had operated for more than a decade before closing.

Earlier this year, the company also closed its Northeast Philadelphia restaurant on Roosevelt Boulevard. That closure eliminated 49 jobs, according to a WARN notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

No WARN notice had been filed for the Springfield location at the time of the announcement. Therefore, the number of employees affected has not been publicly disclosed.

Following the two closures, Miller’s Ale House now operates six locations in Pennsylvania. In addition, the company maintains one restaurant in South Jersey and another in Delaware.

The company has not publicly commented on the reason for either closure. Likewise, its parent company, Roark Capital Group, has not released additional details.

Restaurant operators continue adjusting their portfolios as consumer preferences, operating costs, and market conditions evolve. Consequently, many national chains are evaluating the long-term performance of individual locations.

Despite the recent closures, demand for well-located restaurant space remains active across the Philadelphia region, particularly within high-traffic retail corridors and mixed-use developments.
